COOPERATION PACKAGE OF

W A S W C

TO CONFERENCE ORGANIZERS

WASWC offers a package of cooperation to organizers of conferences* related to the management and care of soil, water and other natural resources, comprising:

 

1. Before the meeting WASWC helps announce the event through the WASWC HOT NEWS to inform our 5,000+ members in over 120 countries.

 

2. WASWC helps identify speakers who are suitable for the themes of each conference, if wanted.

 

3. WASWC gives ‘Guest membership’ to all participants to the conference as well as members of the organizing committee for one year, with the same benefits that paying members receive.

 

4. After the meeting, WASWC helps publish a conference summary (~400-500 words) in the WASWC Newsletter – with a small number of photos to illustrate the event. 

 

5. WASWC will help post the digital CONFERENCE SUMMARY AND ABSTRACTS BOOK on the website at no cost. The book should be carefully prepared by the organizers, with the following structure:

 

i.                    (p. 1) Conference title (with logo if available), organizers and sponsors, addresses and e-mails, place and date

ii.                  Background and some information as necessary (up to 400 words or 1 page)

iii.                Summary, including Conclusions and Recommendations (no limit for the length but should be succinct, or use the same as No. 4 above ) 

iv.                Photos from the meeting and field trips, some 8-12, with proper captions. Photos – as JPEG files – should be of relatively low resolution, e.g. within 100 kb each.

v.                  Abstracts or extended abstracts of all papers, with appropriate sequence, in easy-to-read font types (For a large-size conference, e.g. with more than 150 abstracts, pls contact us for modifying this item to better suit the situation.) 

 

WASWC has now posted all publications and activities on the two websites operated from Guangzhou and Tokyo, i.e. http://waswc.soil.gd.cn and www.waswc.org.

Following are the benefits that Guest members may receive:

1. WASWC Newsletter in 10 languages, English, Spanish, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, Bahasa, Vietnamese, Arabic and Thai, is posted on the website quarterly.

2. WASWC HOT NEWS announcing Awards, Funds, Scholarships, Training, Appointments, Jobs, Tours, Expositions and all important Meetings all over the world, will be sent to members every month. 

3. WASWC SUPER HOT NEWS announcing items like Funds with very short deadlines will be sent to members immediately.

4. Peer reviewed Journal (JWASWC) and non-peer reviewed Proceedings (PWASWC), with abstracts in 10 languages.

5. Papers from The Land Journal: 34 have been posted and 51 will be added later.

6. Special Publications I (USLE Story) and II (Carbon Trading) have been posted and SPIII on No-Till Farming Systems is now in print and on sale at a low price.

7. WASWC book series No. 5, Monitoring and Evaluation of Soil Conservation and Watershed Development Projects, is now published. Members can purchase at a 40% discount at www.scipub.net, our publishing partner.   

8. Photo websites, http://community.webshots.com/user/waswc & http://community.webshots.com/user/waswc1, collecting almost 10,000 photos on various aspects of SWC, are fast expanding – with photo competition for books from Science Publishers, Inc. U.S.A. (www.scipub.net) as prizes. 

9. A chance of interaction among members and to consult thousands of experts anywhere in the world through the internet. There are over 120 WASWC officers worldwide who will assist in the matters that members may request.

10. Web services, including web space to post Conference Abstracts & Summary Books from technical meetings, web board discussing various subjects and some matters like what conservation technologies and/ or approaches would be suitable for what place/ situation.

11. Availability of a ‘cooperation package’ for members who organize conferences related to the objectives of WASWC.

What does WASWC ask the organizers to do?

1. The conference organizers can announce this cooperation in the Announcements, the website and at the conference, e.g. WASWC provides Guest membership to all participants for one year.

2. The conference organizers are free to quote the cooperation in a proper manner. Logos of WASWC are downloadable from the photo website http://community.webshots.com/user/waswc.

3. One copy of the Proceedings (book or CD) should be sent to the Editor of WASWC Newsletter for further publicity (Samran Sombatpanit, 67/141 Amonphant 9, Soi Sena 1, Bangkok 10230, Thailand).
