Translators' Club of WASWC

It is undeniable that the main driving force of WASWC as a professional association has been shown by councilors, more than 100 officers (VPs, NRs, SRs) and several dozens of Associate Editors for all publications, which enabled our association to penetrate into almost every community. And there is a group of people who have been dedicated in doing the work of WASWC continually. They are the translators of WASWC Newsletter and abstracts from Journal and Proceedings to nine foreign languages. They are as follows:

For Spanish: Prof. Eduardo Rienzi, Eng. Claudio Kvolek, Argentina, Prof. Franco Obando, Colombia and Dr. Manuel Paulet, Peru

For Russian: Prof. Abdybek Asanaliev and Dr. Toktogul Azykov, Kyrgyzstan

For Portuguese: Prof. Antonio Guerra, Ms. Stella Peres Mendes & Mr. Fabio da Silva Lima, Fellipe Figueiredo Silva, all in Brazil

For Bahasa (Indonesia & Malaysia): Eng. Syaiful Anwar and Ms. Virni Budi Arifanti, Indonesia

For Chinese: Prof. Li Rui, Dr. Liu Bingwu, Dr. Zhou Wenhua, Assoc. Prof. X.-Z. Xu, all in China

For Vietnamese: Dr. Pham Quang Ha, Ms. Hoang Thi Ngan and Mr. Thai Hong Van, Vietnam

For French and Arabic: Eng. Nahid Elbezzaz (French), Dr. Rachid Mrabet (Arabic), both in Morocco

For Thai: Ms. Nootsuporn Krisdatarn and Dr. Orathai Sukreeyapongse, Thailand

As the total number of the translators is within two dozens, and they are working towards the same goal, i.e. a good understanding in SWC to those not familiar with the English language, it is apt to call the group the ‘translators’ club’. Among them, Eduardo Rienzi was the first to volunteer to do the translation, on August 20, 2004, during my visit to Argentina; the last one was Rachid Mrabet who agreed in June 2007. Having 10 languages for the Newsletter and abstracts of Journal and Proceedings papers is already the highest number we can do. For these translators, we salute them all for their good and hard work that will bring SWC message from WASWC to almost every corner of the world. They are brave persons.
